We are excited to be able to announce that Professor Dr. Angelika Lohwasser has agreed to give the opening talk for our international Sudan Studies Research Conference in Munich on the 25 June 2022.

The Benefits of Doing Archaeology in Remote Areas.

Prof. Dr. Angelika Lohwasser trained as an Egyptologist specialising in the Archaeology of Sudan and the Arabic language at the University of Vienna. Since 2009 she has been a full Professor for Egyptology at the Institute of Egyptology and Coptology at the University of Münster and Director of Archaeological fieldwork in the Bayuda desert in Sudan. In 2009 she received the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize from the German Research Foundation (DFG) and in 2016 the Research Award prize from the University of Münster. Her publications deal with various culture-historical, historical and archaeological aspects of the cultures of ancient Sudan and late-period Egypt.
